Miller Family Snapshot: Thanksgiving 2025

Hey friends! Happy December 4!
Today’s post is a little snapshot into our Thanksgiving, and it was such an amazing day that I had to share.

This year, Martin and I hosted Thanksgiving lunch — but don’t worry, we were not the ones doing the heavy cooking. 😂 I did help in the kitchen more than I normally do (very proud of myself), and my mom and I had the best time cooking together. But let’s be real… I wasn’t actually responsible for anything major.

Well… unless I claim the rolls, which did require thawing,  proofing, and baking — so yes, that was a stressful few hours. But the rolls were delicious, I did not ruin them, and I will absolutely toot my own horn on that one. Meanwhile, some of you out there are baking every single dish on the table like it’s nothing. Y’all are show-offs — and I am so happy for you. Truly. 😂👏

Our Thanksgiving Prep

Our day really started the day before Thanksgiving. My mom came over and we made the stuffing (or dressing — whichever team you’re on), prepped the rolls, made desserts, and just had a fun time in the kitchen while all the kids played around the house.

The next morning was when the full Thanksgiving craziness began.

I woke up early to get casseroles out to room temp, start baking the rolls, and peel/prep the potatoes. But one thing I absolutely refused to skip — my nonnegotiable — was:

  • Bible study and quiet time

  • A real workout (not just a walk — something a little sweaty!)

Not because I felt like I “had to” burn calories, but because I wanted to feel my best on a day that is meant for gratitude, family, and joy. And feeling my best always includes time with God and moving my body.

After that, my mom came over again and we knocked out the mashed potatoes together. Thanksgiving lunch was at noon this year, so it was a fast and productive morning.

And because I refuse to host a holiday looking like a tornado hit me, I took time to get ready too — curled my hair, put on normal clothes, and actually loved my outfit! I wore a “Merry & Bright” shirt with my new knitted striped pants. So cute. So festive.

Thanksgiving Day Fun

We ate until our bellies were full… and then ate more. It was cozy, delicious, and exactly how Thanksgiving should be.

Of course, we had football on all afternoon. The Chiefs sadly lost to the Cowboys (a real bummer), but it was still fun having football + family all around.

The weather was gorgeous, so Martin and I took a couple of walks throughout the day when things got quiet. Honestly, it was one of the most relaxing Thanksgiving days we’ve had in a long time.

We didn’t travel anywhere. We didn’t rush.
Just food, family, fresh air, gratitude, and a peaceful day at home.

We FaceTimed the family who couldn’t make it, so it still felt like we were together — even if not physically. It was perfect.

Looking Ahead

It will be a hard Thanksgiving to top, that’s for sure. I’m already hoping next year includes even more family in town. But this one will always be such a sweet memory.

And that’s a wrap on Thanksgiving 2025!

I hope you enjoyed the photos I captured throughout the day.
Love y’all, and I’ll see you back here on Kari Miller Blog for Friday Favorites — woo woo! Get excited! 🎉
