Everyone on earth is searching for a good and meaningful life. We all want our lives to matter—to be filled with purpose and fulfillment. But so often, we chase that fulfillment through things that will never truly satisfy us.
Some people try to find purpose in fame or admiration from others. Others look for it in material possessions, thinking “just one more thing” will finally make them happy. And still others pour their energy into success and wealth, believing that security equals peace.
But all of those pursuits eventually fade. Fame disappears, possessions lose their shine, and even the security we build can crumble.
What Jesus Says About the “Good Life”
In John 10, Jesus compares Himself to a Good Shepherd—one who cares deeply for His sheep. He says, “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved… I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
When Jesus says He is the gate, He’s telling us that true life—real, abundant, soul-deep life—can only be found through Him. It’s not found in the approval of others, or in anything the world tells us we need to be happy.
Following Jesus as our Shepherd is the only path to a truly good life.
Rethinking Fulfillment
Take a few moments today to ask yourself:
Where am I looking for meaning and fulfillment?
Am I chasing it through things of this world—success, relationships, or comfort?
Or am I allowing Jesus to lead me toward purpose and peace?
Jesus isn’t just a guide; He’s the source of abundant life. When we trust Him, He fills our hearts in ways nothing else can.
Finding God in Pain and Suffering
It’s easy to rely on God when life feels hard. But when things are steady and comfortable, we can slip into complacency. That’s exactly where Satan wants us—distracted, ungrateful, and unsatisfied with the blessings we already have.
Sometimes, the pain we go through isn’t meant to break us—it’s meant to bring us closer to God. Pain and suffering become sacred opportunities to lean on Him, seek Him, and pray more often.
When life feels heavy, remember: it may just be God calling you to come closer, to rest in His presence, and to trust His plan.
The Good Shepherd Still Leads
No matter what season you’re in—whether you’re striving, suffering, or somewhere in between—Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He knows you. He sees you. And He wants to lead you into an abundant, peaceful, and fulfilled life.
So today, let’s stop chasing what the world calls “the good life” and start following the One who actually offers it. 💛
