1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Happy Monday, friends! We are officially kicking off Thanksgiving week, which feels equal parts exciting and… a little bit chaotic. If your to-do list looks anything like mine, I know you’re probably running around prepping groceries, cleaning rooms, organizing kid activities, and double-checking alllll the details.
And yet—this week is also one of my very favorites. There is something so sweet about starting a brand-new week that’s centered on gratitude, family, food, and slowing down just a little.
I wanted to write a blog post centered around a bible verse that fits the week. I came across 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and just knew this was the one.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances…”
These three tiny phrases are powerful. They hit every corner of our week:
1. “Rejoice always”
Not just when everything is cute and cozy and Instagram-worthy.
Not just when the house is clean.
Not just when the kids magically don’t argue over who gets the last roll.
Joy is a posture.
A choice.
A steady place to stand.
2. “Pray continually”
As in:
When you’re peeling potatoes
When you’re vacuuming the floors
When you’re driving to pick up kids
When you’re remembering that one thing you forgot at the grocery store (again)
Prayer isn’t formal. It’s a conversation. It’s a relationship. It’s staying connected. It’s inviting God right into the middle of your real, messy, everyday moments.
3. “Give thanks in all circumstances”
All.
Not some.
Not the easy ones.
Not the picture-perfect ones.
This week might bring joy… but it may also bring stress, family tension, or unexpected hiccups. Yet God says: Here too. Right here. There are reasons to give thanks.
What This Looks Like in Real Mom-Life This Week
Here are some simple ways to live out this verse today:
Whisper a prayer before you get out of bed.
Pause for gratitude while you fold laundry or prep food.
Thank God for your home—even if it feels messy or loud.
Rejoice when you gather with people you love, even in the chaos.
Look for small blessings: warm coffee, a fall breeze, hugs from your kids, a few minutes of quiet.
Let thankfulness shift the atmosphere of your home.
Sometimes gratitude starts as a discipline… and ends as a blessing.
A Short Prayer for the Start of Thanksgiving Week
Lord, as we begin this week, give us hearts that rejoice easily and often. Help us stay connected to You in all the little moments.
Teach us to give thanks—not just when life feels good, but in every circumstance, because You are good. Fill our homes with peace, joy, and gratitude this Thanksgiving week. Amen.
Let’s Step Into This Week With Intention
As we walk into Thanksgiving week, let’s hold this verse close.
Let’s be women who choose joy.
Women who pray continually.
Women who give thanks—not because life is perfect, but because God is faithful.
I’m so glad you are here.
Happy Thanksgiving week, friends!
