TGIF: August 8, 2025

Happy Friday, y’all!

Well, the last week of summer is officially over… So bittersweet. My kids are ready for the busyness of school, and I am ready for a solid routine again. But I will miss our slow mornings and just being together.

Today, I am just in my feels.

Today, I think it is a perfect day for a TGIF post.

Thank you, God, for my first born.

This weekend we will be celebrating Bennett! My precious baby boy will be 13 tomorrow. A teenager?! How is that possible? Bennett is just the best. I’m not sure I can articulate how sweet this kid is. I honestly think he is the greatest mix of Martin and I. He got all of our great qualities and none of our bad ones. He is just the best. He takes out the trash just “because I saw it was getting full.” He will stop what he’s doing and “I’ll help you pick those up, Mom.” He constantly puts others before himself, he never brags, he has such a quiet confidence in how he carries himself (very much like his dad), he is never too high or too low (except when he caught his 8lb fish). We love our oldest, so very much. He makes this world a whole lot better.

Thank you, God, for teachers.

Y’all, it is not easy being a teacher. I am so thankful this time of year for teachers. The beginning of the school year is so difficult. You are given a new group of kiddos that you know nothing about, and they don’t know you or how you run things. The learning curve is so steep, seriously. But every single year, teachers do it. They often do it underpaid and under-appreciated. I am here to make it very clear- I love teachers and appreciate everything they do.

Thank you, God, for football.

I am sooooooo ready for football! Thursday (middle school) football, Friday (high school) football, Saturday (go cats and peewee) football, and Sunday (chieeeeeeeefs) football.

Thank you, God, for babies.

My bestie recently gave birth to twin boys. Oh my goodness, they are so precious. I am just so thankful for their health and the health of their beautiful momma! What a badge of superhuman honor to carry and deliver twins. I am just in awe!

Thank you, God, for little pleasures.

There are so many little things in my life that a sparks of joy every single day. They aren’t huge or flashy, but they bring joy to my heart. My painted nails, my Liquid IV drink, my hot coffee, my pillow, my daily check in texts from Martin, my neighbors daughters that yell “Hi, Kari!”, my doodle snuggles, or my daily bowl of SkinnyPOP. I could keep going. I think it is important to hold onto little sparks of joy tightly, focus on joy!

Thank you, God, for my church.

My kids love going to church, Martin and I love going to church. And I am so, so thankful for that.

What are you thanking God for today? Leave a comment.

Have a wonderful weekend, friends!
