Today I thought I would give you a quick pregnancy update and also admit that I have been a horrible blogger lately.
Life has just been… a lot.
Now that baseball has started for both boys, every single night feels like complete chaos. It’s either a game, a practice, a school project, homework, or some combination of all of the above. We are crawling to the finish line of the school year, and the end is in sight. Honestly, I think Martin and I might be more excited than the kids.
But somehow, weeks 21 through 26 of this pregnancy have gone by in a blink.
I’m not sure where the time is going. It truly feels like this pregnancy is slipping through my fingers. The weeks are ticking by like days, and very soon I’ll be in the third trimester. How that even happened, I’m not sure.
As far as symptoms go, I’m feeling really, really good. My energy is back and has been super high, which has been such a gift. I’m still sleeping a lot, but thankfully I’m sleeping pretty well for the most part.
I will say, I’ve started having some round ligament cramping if I move a weird way in the middle of the night, which is super fun. Luckily, it usually goes away pretty quickly, but it is not exactly a pleasant way to wake up.
My ankles are also a little squishy, which is both attractive and slightly alarming when I look down. Thankfully, they usually shrink back down overnight and then gradually get squishy again throughout the day. It is what it is. For now, that’s really the only swelling I’m dealing with, and for the most part it’s pretty mild.
Baby girl is very active. If I sit down and stay still — which, let’s be honest, is not very often — she definitely makes her presence known. It takes me about ten minutes to fall asleep at night because of her gymnastics, but honestly, that’s okay. It’s sweet to have that little moment with her every night.
I went to the doctor during week 25, and everything went well. The highlight was trying to find her heartbeat because she was moving around like crazy. She was going absolutely bonkers, and we could not get a good heart rate at first. I knew she was okay because I could feel her moving, but it still turned into a bit of an adventure. We just had to wait until she stayed still for about five seconds.
As of now, I’ve gained about 18 pounds, which I think is good. I don’t know. I feel a little puffy, but it’s all good. I know it’s for a good cause, so I’m just going to stay the course.
I’ve also been working out a lot more this past month since my energy has been up, and that has helped me so much mentally and physically. Even with the weight gain, puffiness, and a little swelling, I can deal with it all so much better when I’m able to get in a good workout and feel good mentally.
I just keep reminding myself that this is temporary and so worth it in the end.
As far as baby prep goes, we have not bought anything new for baby girl since probably February. We got on a real kick back then and bought the nursery furniture, and then we just kind of stopped. At some point, we need to revisit what we still need and what we have left to buy, but that will probably happen this summer when I have a little more brain power.
Because right now? I do not have the brain power for that.
And that’s okay. We’ll get there. I promise.
I think I’m going to wrap up the update here. I’m sorry for the lack of blogging lately. I’m surviving, and that has been the priority more than blogging right now. Hopefully this summer I’ll have a little more time for this hobby of mine that I truly love.
But I know all you moms out there get it.
’Tis the season.
