Baker is 10!

Baker David Miller turned TEN years old on April 1st!  Double digits, a perfect ten, a decade of loving and caring for his precious soul.

Today I am going to be sharing TEN things about Baker.

#1: Baker is Ruby’s Favorite.

It’s not really even close. Ruby loves Baker because she knows that Baker loves her more than we love her. She loves laying with Baker, he loves when she lies with him. Every morning, Ruby only gets up for the day if Baker is up for the day. She knows to go to the chair and snuggle with Baker while he watches Sportscenter.

#2: Baker is a Hard Worker.

If Baker wants to be good at something, he gets good at it. He puts in the work. He has many natural abilities, but it is his work ethic that propels him to being successful. He has a motor inside of him to work and will himself to reach goals. It is very impressive to witness.

#3: Baker is the best cousin.

Baker loves all of his cousins. He can hang with his older cousins like he is their best friend and then he can hang with his younger cousin like they are best friends. When Baker is with his cousins, they get his full attention and energy. His happy place is with his cousins- young and old.

#4: Baker is the best and worst of his parents.

Baker inherited all of Martin and I’s positive traits. He is fiercely loyal, homebody, family oriented like his dad. He is determined, confident, and a leader like his mom. It is so fun to see all those positive qualities in him. However, I feel like he also has many of our negative traits, unfortunately. He can be easily annoyed by silly things and struggle with selfishness and fairness. These are things I feel Martin and I see in ourselves more than we’d like. However, we can relate to Baker and try our best to parent him to hone in on those positive traits.

#5: Baker shows love in unique ways.

You aren’t going to get a handwritten note from Baker. You aren’t going to get words of affirmation or love very easily. However, you do get snuggle sessions, long hugs, and meaningful conversations. He is a unique boy that I am still trying to completely figure out.

#6: Baker is a Kincaid in the looks department.

Baker looks like a Kincaid. Madley and Bennett definitely favor the Miller side. Baker, however, looks like my dad and brother. His freckle face and blonde eyebrows are a staple in the Kincaid gene. It’s wild how much I see my brother in his body shape and, weirdly, his toes. Sorry, Austin, if that is weird to say.

#7: Baker is competitive.

Baker likes to win. Baker does not like to lose.

#8: Baker loves his teachers.

This one may sound weird, but with every teacher Baker has had- he just absolutely loves them. He always believes he has the best teacher. He is very loyal to his teacher. I will say that he has been very blessed to have amazing women teach him and love him. His teachers have always fostered Baker’s leadership and joy. He loves going to school and always wants to please and make his teachers proud.

#9: Baker loves his mom and his dad.

Baker LOVES when he gets one-on-one time with Martin and/or me. He turns into a super talkative kid filled with knowledge to share, questions to ask, and memories to reminisce on. Benny and Madley like alone time with us too, but Baker really comes alive when he gets his solo time.

#10: Baker is a stud muffin.

Baker is very cute (mom’s truth), he is smart, he is good at sports, he is a child of God (his words). Martin and I sometimes are in awe of things Baker knows or does. We often say, “it must be nice to be Baker.” He is very special and I am so blessed and honored to have a front row seat to watch him grow up.

Love my Baker boy.
