The Truth of Easter Changes Everything
Easter is full of beautiful traditions. There are dresses and family photos, egg hunts and baskets, church services and big meals. I love all of those things. But underneath all of that is the truth that changes everything.
The tomb was empty.
Not symbolically. Not poetically. Not “in a spiritual sense.” Literally empty.
Jesus had truly died. He had been crucified in public. People saw it happen. His body was placed in a tomb. A stone was rolled in front of it. It looked finished. It looked final. It looked hopeless.
And then everything changed.
In Matthew 28:6, the angel says, “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”That invitation always stands out to me. The angel did not just announce the good news and send the women on their way. He invited them closer. Come and see. Look for yourself. Witness it. Take in the truth with your own eyes.
I love that because our faith is not built on wishful thinking. It is built on truth. Real truth. The kind of truth that holds steady when life feels uncertain, painful, or confusing.
And that truth still changes everything.
Because if Jesus really rose from the dead, then hope is real. Grace is real. Forgiveness is real. New life is real. It means sin does not get the final word. Shame does not get the final word. Death does not get the final word. Jesus does.
That is the heart of Easter.
And it is also why our lives should look different because of Him. Not perfect. Not polished. But changed. Softer. Stronger. More peaceful. More forgiving. More full of hope. When Jesus changes you, people notice. They may not always have the words for it, but they can see it. They can feel the difference.
You do not have to know everything to share your faith. You do not have to have a perfect testimony or all the right answers. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply live in a way that makes people wonder what is different about you. Then, when the moment comes, you get to tell them.
Jesus is what is different.
The truth of Easter is not just something we celebrate one Sunday a year. It is the truth we get to live from every single day. The tomb is empty. Jesus is alive. And that changes everything.
Closing Question:
What has Jesus changed in your life?
