Morning Routine Template for Women: How to Start Your Day with Purpose, Peace, and Productivity

It has been a minute since I shared my MORNING ROUTINE. I am pretty passionate about my mornings. I am a firm believer that a solid morning routine is foundational to a great, productive day.

When I am unable to do my routine or don’t follow it, for whatever reason, I find that I struggle all day feeling “accomplished” or “content.”

So… it is so important what your morning routine is. Even if you don’t workout in the morning or do your quiet time in the morning, EVERYONE has a morning routine. Do you like yours? Or would you like to see some change?

Today, I am going to be sharing my current morning routine. I will also try and give you a template to follow to make your morning routine right for you! Should be a fun time. Let’s go!

Kari’s Current Morning Routine (with time stamps)

5:00am Alarm Goes Off

5:00-5:20am Get Up, Post KMB post to FB and Insta, Get dressed, Make Coffee

5:20-6:00am Quiet Time

YouVersion Bible App: Verse of the Day

The Bible Recap (Reading and Recap)

Prayer Journal

6:00-6:45am Workout in Garage

6:45am Wake Up Kids if they are still sleeping

6:45-7:00am Make Breakfast for Kids while they get dressed.

7:00-7:20am Kids eat breakfast while I make lunches

7:20-7:30am Kids get teeth brushed, socks/shoes, backpacks packed while I take Ruby to go potty.

7:30am Out the door for School!

This routine is pretty routine. I know that if I follow this routine several things will happen…

1. I will start my day with Jesus.

Is there a better start? I don’t think so. I feel connected to God, I feel more equipped to face the day, I am encouraged in who God made me to be, I am inspired to obey God and love people.

2. Everything will be ready.

If I follow this routine, everyone will be ready for school. All of their needs will be met.

3. Nothing Surprising Usually Happens

The kids are very familiar with this routine, they can count on this routine just like I do! They appreciate the routine like I do, it doesn’t come as a surprise to them (or Martin). Of course, life happens, so I said nothing *USUALLY* surprises us. Sometimes a forgotten homework assignment gets remembered and changes the vibes from predictable to urgency.

Now- back to my question from the beginning…

EVERYONE has a morning routine. Do you like yours? Or would you like to see some change?

Create Your Own Morning Routine Template

You don’t have to be a morning person to create a morning that works for you. Everyone’s rhythm looks a little different, but the goal is the same: to start your day feeling grounded, purposeful, and ready.

Use this simple template to design your own morning routine that sets the tone for your best day.

1. Define Your Why

Before writing your routine, take a moment to ask:

  • What do I want my mornings to feel like — peaceful? productive? joyful?

  • What do I want to accomplish before my day officially “starts”?

  • What’s currently not working in my mornings?

Write your answers here:
📝 My morning goals are… _______________________

2. Identify Your Non-Negotiables

These are the things that make you feel centered — no matter what.

☐ Quiet time / prayer / journaling

☐ Movement or stretching

☐ Breakfast or hydration

☐ Family prep time

☐ Planning your day

📝 My non-negotiables are… _______________________

3. Set Your Wake-Up Time Window

You don’t need to start at 5:00 a.m. like me! Pick a realistic time based on your lifestyle and commitments.

  • Ideal wake-up time: ___________

  • Ideal bedtime (to support it): ___________

Tip: Give yourself a 15-minute buffer — mornings rarely go perfectly.

4. Break It Into Time Blocks

🕕 Keep it realistic — most routines fall into 4–6 main blocks (wake up, quiet time, move, get ready, prep family, leave).

5. Add a Faith Focus

What helps you connect with God in the morning?

  • Verse of the day

  • Prayer walk

  • Worship music

  • Devotional reading

📝 My faith focus is… _______________________

6. Build in Flexibility + Grace

No two mornings will look identical. Leave space for:

  • Sick kids, late nights, or extra coffee ☕

  • Quick resets when your plan shifts

  • Grace for yourself when it doesn’t go perfectly

Write your reset reminder here:
💭 When mornings go off track, I will… ____________

7. Reflect + Adjust

At the end of the week, ask yourself:

  • What worked really well?

  • What felt rushed or stressful?

  • What can I tweak next week?

📝 My reflections… _______________________

Final Thoughts

A morning routine isn’t about control — it’s about consistency.
Start small, build habits that serve your season, and remember: your morning doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to be meaningful.

  1. I definitely have a set routine which involves 10 mins of stretching, cleaning, a nutritious breakfast and responding to blog comments. I keep to it when I’m away – except for the cleaning! Thanks for linking
