TGIF: April 11, 2025

‘Tis the season, my fellow baseball moms!

It’s been six weeks since I did a TGIF post. In my opinion, that is entirely too long.

If you are new to Kari Miller Blog, TGIF posts are when I stop and truly thank GOD for specific things in my life. They can be big or small, serious or silly. The emphasis is on thanking GOD for blessings in my life.

Let’s jump right into gratitude.

Thank God for baseball.

We love sports in our family. Martin and I didn’t necessarily grow up playing baseball, but we have come to truly appreciate it. Baseball is very social for the families. It is very important that you enjoy the families. You spend the 45 minute warm up together, the 90 minute game together, you cheer together, you encourage together, complain about calls together. You get it. I am thanking God for placing our boys on teams with supportive families that are fun, kind, and just the right amount of competitive.

Thank God for green plants.

I look outside Martin’s office window right now and I see so much green. It is so uplifting. Spring just reminds me that God takes care of his creations. If he makes every plant bloom, he will never forget to take care of you and I. I see all these beautiful trees and flowers, and God chose to make us in his image. How incredible is that?

Thank God for teachers in the 4th quarter of the school year.

Teachers are hanging on, folks. I can promise that some days they are hanging on by a thin thread. Take a moment and thank your child’s teacher in the next month and a half. Offer to bring them a treat from QT. Kids are getting too comfortable in the classroom, behaviors can intensify, everyone is feeling the summer itch getting stronger and stronger. Pray for your teachers and thank your teachers!

Thank God for forgiveness.

I have had a rough few days. I have been harsh with my kids. I’ve lacked grace and mercy. My edges have been too sharp. I am so thankful that my kids seem to forgive and forget so much easier than I do. We recently had a rough morning. I spiraled when I had to quiz Benny for a math test, make his lunch, serve him breakfast all at the same time. Every time he sneezed or looked away from his study guide, I would want to snap. Lord, forgive me. I don’t know where I am going with this, I am sure many of you parents can understand. I don’t know the answer, but I know my sarcasm and frustration wasn’t it. Despite all that, Benny came home from school happy and was quick to give me a hug. I didn’t deserve it. Benny was Christ-like in that moment.

What are you thanking God for this Spring Friday?

I pray y’all have a wonderful weekend! You’ll find me at the diamond cheering!
