When I turned 37, I sat down and jotted down some “Everyday MUSTS for year #37”. I ended up coming up with ten musts that, ideally, I would like to accomplish every single day.
Before I get to my ten musts, I think it is important for me to tell you that it was DELIGHTFUL to make this list. Envisioning my days ahead, seeing myself accomplish these ten musts everyday, made me so happy, to my core.
These ten musts are very unique to me. I am not sharing these because I think everyone should do my ten things. I am sharing these to inspire you to come up with a list of “everyday musts”. Encourage you to fill your days with things that make you feel fulfilled and accomplished.
With that all being said, let’s get into my TEN EVERYDAY MUSTS.
#1: Quiet Time/Bible Reading
Reading God’s word is my #1 priority. It is also the one thing that has completely transformed my life and my faith. You know how I said your ten musts shouldn’t look exactly like mine? Well, this one needs to be on your list. There are only positive things that can come from getting into God’s word, honestly.
#2: Workout: Weight Training, Run, or Walk
If I don’t get my workout in, I am just not my best self. So, it is just best for me to get this done every single day. Saturday and Sunday are usually my rest days, so I will make sure I get a walk in on those days.
#3: Drink Water
I feel better when I am drinking a good amount of water. I have found that when I neglect my water, I feel very “snacky”. That is a made up word, but I know you get my gist. I will start confusing thirst with hunger. And hunger then leads to “hangry”.
#4: Walk with Martin
A walk with Martin is my favorite thing. We both enjoy walks and we both enjoy chatting with each other. The kids usually ride their bikes along with us or stay home together and watch a show. Now, finding time to walk with Martin is hard on work days in the winter when it gets dark so early. So if I am unable to walk with Martin, I try to get a podcast walk outside every single day.
#5: Limited Phone Use
The best days are days that I don’t spend hours on my phone. I love when I fill my days with my presence.
#6: Healthy Eating
I shared in my New Year Resolutions that I want to be better at nutrition. Similar to my phone use, there is no denying that I feel so good at the end of the day when I have fueled my body in a way that nourishes and supports it.
#7: Quality Conversations with Kids
This is another top priority for me. My kids need me, of course. I feed them, clean their clothes, braid hair, pick them up, and drop them off. But what they also need is my ears. They need me to listen to them, hear about their day or problem. They need my undivided attention. With three kids, it can be challenging to find time to do this with each kiddo, but luckily Martin is good about this. And between us, we can usually get this done.
#8: Get to Bed Early
This is one that I am not good at. I don’t go to bed late, usually between 10:00-10:30 pm. But when you wake up at 4:45am, that just isn’t enough sleep. I am trying to push that up an hour and gain an extra hour of sleep.
#9: Clean Kitchen before Bed
There is nothing worse than waking up in the morning and walking out to a dirty kitchen or a sink full of dirty dishes. THE WORST. So a must for me is having the kitchen clean and ready for the next day every single night. Martin is pretty good at doing this most days. He’s a keeper, y’all!
#10: Be Creative: Blog/Read/Brainstorm/Plan
I love writing. If I did that every day, it would make me feel so fulfilled. If I am not writing, I also love brainstorming about what I could write about. I also like to plan out my days/weeks ahead. It inspires me and helps ensure successful/fulfilling days ahead.
And those are my EVERYDAY MUSTS for year #37! What is a daily must in your life? I’d love to hear them- I wish everyone I knew would share their everyday musts. We would learn so much about each other, know why we are all the way we are!
Have a blessed day y’all!
Love your blog and your transparency. And I love your everyday musts! 💜
