On this Thankful Thursday, I wanted to take a quick snapshot of how sweet my family is at this exact moment in time. So that is what I am doing today, gratitude style.
I sat down with each person in my family and asked them what they were truly thankful for. I asked each person these three questions…
-
What one thing in your life are you MOST grateful for right now?
-
What small or silly thing are you thankful for?
-
What makes our family so special?
Here is what I got…
Madley Grace – age 6
-
What one thing in your life are you MOST grateful for right now?
I have a lot. What I am thankful for is my trust in Jesus and all the great discoveries I will do.
-
What small or silly thing are you thankful for?
When something happens in class and we all laugh, even the teacher.
-
What makes our family so special?
I am thankful that my family is really big. I love having family dinners.
Kari’s Thoughts… I am so thankful for Madley. She is the brightest light in our lives. She has energy for days, she loves to give daddy kisses first, and she is the world’s greatest snuggler! Life without Madley would be much quieter and cleaner, but so much darker without her giggles, creativity, and joy. |
Baker David – age 8
-
What one thing in your life are you MOST grateful for right now?
My family because they are the best.
-
What small or silly thing are you thankful for?
My sister because she is always funny.
-
What makes our family so special?
That we all believe in God. And I wouldn’t want to be apart of any other family.
Kari’s Thoughts… I am so thankful for Baker. Bake is our hyper-focused competitor. He isn’t so much concerned with being better than everyone, but better than he was yesterday. He is so fun to talk to and is becoming so witty. His freckles and ornery smile make me melt. |
Bennett Shawn – age 12
-
What one thing in your life are you MOST grateful for right now?
Jesus because He is the best.
-
What small or silly thing are you thankful for?
Playing games at school instead of doing work.
-
What makes our family so special?
I actually LIKE my family.
Kari’s Thoughts… I am so thankful for Bennett. Bennett is the leader of our kid crew. His birth order was no accident. God has/is molding his heart to be a gentle, kind, and trustworthy big brother. His brother and sister adore him and can count on him. He works extremely hard on his academics. His optimism for life is contagious and something I want to protect with my whole being. |
Martin – age 37
-
What one thing in your life are you MOST grateful for right now?
Kari – my wife – she is my rock, my lover, and our momma. She takes care of me and my kiddos. I couldn’t make it without her. It’s her presence, her faith, and her commitment to us that makes me grateful.
-
What small or silly thing are you thankful for?
Ruby – she is a great dog. She loves us unconditionally. We can quickly take for granted her patience, her unconditional love, and ability to be ready to help us. It could be a kid crying or a kid sick – she knows it – she loves us and she always meets us where we are.
-
What makes our family so special?
Our loyal, unconditional love – for each other. We can get mad, sad, and have our moments of being flawed broken sinners. We all have them in this house and have humans. But we love each other just like Jesus loved us. We know we are broken and need each other. We can be tired, hungry, sad, or just lost. But this Family loves each other unconditionally.
Kari’s Thoughts… I am so thankful for Martin. He is God’s greatest blessing in my life. His love for me is Jesus like. He is so quick to forgive me, he always seems to like me, he is always taking care of us. He gives the best tickles, hugs, and nicknames. He is my other half, my heart on this earth. |
Kari – age 36
-
What one thing in your life are you MOST grateful for right now?
Outside of Jesus, I am so thankful for the confidence I have in my marriage and family.
-
What small or silly thing are you thankful for?
Random things that make me giddy with gratitude: getting nails done, new season of British Baking Show, made bed, and a beautiful sunrise/sunset.
-
What makes our family so special?
I loved what Benny said, we actually LIKE each other. We enjoy being together. The kids always ask if cousins can come over to play. When they get bored, they ask if they can go hang out at a grandparent’s house. We just all LIKE each other.
Kari’s Thoughts… I am so thankful for myself. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I am so grateful that I was willing to share my heart on this blog, if y’all only knew how terrified I was. I am thankful for my easy going personality and my desire to make life fun for my sweet family. God- thank you for making me me. |
That wraps up my Thankful Thursday. I challenge you to ask your loved ones these three questions. It was very uplifting to hear what they all said.
Theses are beautiful and I’m so glad you have them written down forever!
