GMWK: Recipe for a Great Day

We have recipes to ensure a meal, drink, or dessert is super yummy and successful. What we don’t have is a recipe to ensure a great day. Not all my days are great, and I bet yours aren’t either. However, I have been blessed with so many great days in my life I have noticed they all have the same ingredients. So, today I want to share what those ingredients are. Maybe you can make connections to your own great days, and we can all try and generate these great days using our own special combination of ingredients.

Let’s get to it!

Great Day Recipe

Ingredients:

God’s Word

Gratitude

Preparedness

Movement

Silliness

Connection

Hard Work

Flexibility

Directions:

  1. Preparedness: Start your day before it begins. What can you do the night before to set yourself up for success the next day? Clean the kitchen? Wash your hair? Pack lunches? Whatever it is, do it. Your morning will thank you!

  2. Start your day with something you love. For me, I love Jesus and working out. I start everyday with those two things, God’s Word and Movement. Coffee could be added to that list too!

  3. Work hard at your job, whatever that may be. Tattoo Colossians 3:23 on your heart.

  1. Make a connection with someone during your day. Send a sweet text to your spouse, check in on a coworker that is going through something, write an email to someone that brightens your day.

  2. Inject Silliness into your day. Find something to laugh about. A good belly laugh can do wonders to your stress levels.

  3. Be prepared to be unprepared. When life throws a wrench into your planned out day, be flexible. Give yourself grace in having to change course.

  4. End your day with gratitude. Sometimes simple things like a warm bubble bath are what you are grateful for. You don’t always have to put pressure on yourself to think deeply all the time. Sometimes you are grateful for small things.

What is in your recipe for a great day? I’d love to hear it!

See you all tomorrow for another Tasty Tuesday, with a literal recipe, not just a metaphorical one!

  1. I love this recipe! I’ll add overnight oats for preparing for my day. A tasty and nutrition dish along with a big dose of Jesus starts the day just right! I’m visiting from Grace&Truth link-up.
