Today I want to share 10 interesting/quirky/random/fun facts about me! Some of you will already know some of these, but hopefully you will learn something new about me somewhere in this list!
*A surprise to me when writing for this blog is that I don’t feel as misunderstood as I often do. I have enjoyed more people having access to my heart through my blog. So thank you for making me feel heard and comfortable writing silly posts like this one.*
Here we go- let’s see how well you know me!
#1 What’s a hair salon?
It has officially been two years since I have been to a hair salon. I don’t color or cut my hair. I think at some point I will need a trim, don’t look too closely at my ends in person. But I love my long hair and my natural hair color. So low maintenance.
#2 Pretty Nails
I do know what a nail salon is! I love having my nails painted! I used to do them myself or use nail stickers. That got so exhausting and I am OCD about them having to be chip free. So I tried a local nail salon, Precious Nails, and I have never looked back. The ladies there are so fun and very talented!
#3 Homegrown Tomatoes
A homegrown tomato is my favorite food. I don’t have a garden, so I am at the mercy of those around me that do. If you have extra tomatoes, you now know where you can send them!!
#4 High School Sweetheart
Martin and I started dating when we were 16 and never looked back! So, be very careful who your son/daughter dates in high school. You just never know!
#5 Matthew 5:16 = Life Motto
Ever since I read/heard this bible verse in high school, it has shaped how I live my life. I love so many verses, but this verse is the one I always come back to. My life motto is to live out this verse.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (JESUS’ WORDS) Matthew 5:16
#6 Aunt Life is the BEST
I became an aunt when I was 13 years old. It is the best, I love all my nieces and nephews. I am so proud of all of them and love being their “Aunt Kari.”
#7 Andover Central High Sports Hall of Fame
Not to brag, but I was inducted into my high school’s hall of fame for my basketball career during high school and after. My kids are Andover Central kids now, and I love that. I love being a Jag!
#8 We lived in Fort Worth
Right after we graduated college, we got married, and then moved to Fort Worth. We lived there from 2010-2014. Benny is a Texas baby. We made lots of friends in Texas, but it was never home. We knew once Benny was born, we had to find a way back to Kansas.
#9 I only wear Tennis Shoes
I am not kidding- I only wear tennis shoes. In the summer, I do like my white plastic birkenstock sandals. But outside of that, it is tennis shoes every day for this girl. My feet are crap after all my basketball years, so I need good, solid support. I am so thankful that athleisure fashion is a thing, because I am here for it!
#10 Christmas Season starts November 1st
That’s right, I said it. After Halloween, it is “HAPPY HOLIDAYS” in the Miller house! We put on the tunes, decorate the house, start the lists, light the festive candles, and stay jolly until December 26. This is no knock on Thanksgiving, I LOVE Thanksgiving! It adds fun to the holiday season.
I hope you enjoyed these facts about me! Did any surprise you? Let me know. I’d love to hear about it!
