GMWK: Mini Magical Moments

Today’s GMWK is all about creating “mini magical moments” in your life. These are a few small ways you can make mundane moments more magical. Hopefully you can apply some in your life or my ideas can inspire new ideas that lead to different magical moments. Let’s get merry…

#1 Themed Nights

Here are a few ideas…

Taco Night- you are probably already making tacos at some point during the week. So put on some mariachi music in the background, teach your kids a common phrase in Spanish to practice over dinner.

Movie Night- tell the kids if they can get bathed and in PJ’s by whatever time, we can all sit down and watch 30 minutes of a movie. Everyone gets to bring a blanket to the couch and snuggle. This little change of bedtime routine is beneficial to all parties. Plus, it can motivate them to get bathed in record time, which is always a bonus.

Dance Party- I highly recommend this after a “hard” parenting day. You know the days. The ones that no one likes each other. The days when you question if God equipped you for motherhood. No part of you wants to get up and dance, but the moment that everyone forgets how much they don’t like each other and just dances- that is magical and good for the soul.

#2 DJ MOM

Prior to getting in the car, have the kids create a playlist of music that they love. Maybe make a Monday playlist or a Pregame playlist, etc. That way getting in the car can be a bit more exciting for the kids. “On the way to the game, we are going to listen to Baker’s pregame playlist!” Everyone can get excited and it can help eliminate fighting in the car.

#3 Hide Food

My kids can get easily bored by the snacks/food I have in the pantry. I have learned that if you hide some snacks away- where they can’t see them, and then bust them out randomly. They get so excited. So next time you get/order groceries, take a bag of chips or crackers and put them out of sight. Then in a few days, surprise them.

#4 Splurge on Little things

This is a new one for me. I recently splurged on some shampoo and conditioner that smells so yummy. This splurge is a $20 one, but it makes the dreaded task of washing my hair so much more magical. Maybe there is a task that you don’t look forward to- can you splurge on something little to make that task more magical?

#5 Share Life with Others

Today, I am meaning this more digitally than literally. Find a friend that you can share little life moments with. For example, we all have friends that are more like family. Start texting them more about exciting things happening in your life. Your kid drew a hilarious picture, text a picture of it. You cleaned the pantry finally, text that friend and brag on yourself. Then they will do similar texts back to you. Soon, you are feeling more connected, more understood, and more joyful. I hope you are picking up what I am laying down here. I, also, hope you have a friend that comes to mind that you could do this with.

That wraps up GMWK for this time. I hope these 5 ideas can lead to more mini magical moments in your life. See you tomorrow in the blog world!

I love the idea about splurging on the shampoo. I think sometimes it’s well worth the $20 to make yourself feel better. Get that mani/pedi, pick up something, even if it’s something simple just for yourself. As a mom you work so hard and it’s easy to get caught up in just doing for the kids. I love your ideas!
