Top Ten Worship Songs

As a family, we listen to lots of different types of music. We listen to a lot of yacht rock type music, a little bit of country, pump up jams before baseball games, and throw in a healthy dose of T-Swift, Miley, One Direction, and Jonas Bros. But the music we listen to the most often is Christian worship music. Worship music isn’t just for Sunday mornings in our house. Worship music is such an easy way to talk about faith and Jesus with your kids. Bible stories can be difficult to make applicable in their lives, but praising Jesus through music is easy. Below are my Top 10 Worship songs that the Miller family listens to. I would like to assume all three of my kids know the majority of all these lyrics- for sure the chorus. I am putting Youtube links to the songs, so be sure to listen to any that you haven’t heard before. Here we go…

1. Oceans- hillsong united

Oceans (where feet may fail) - Hillsong United #hillsongunited #oceanh... | 248.6K Views | TikTok

Oceans is a massive HIT! It was #1 for Christian music forever. Hillsong’s Youtube channel has many different live versions of this song and each one with millions and millions of views.

My favorite lyric: “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters, wherever You would call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander, and my faith would be made stronger. In the presence of my Savior.”

2. Battle Belongs- phil whickham

Phil Wickham Raises a Battle Cry on New Song | Positive Encouraging K-LOVE

Battle Belongs is a favorite with Bennett. We always take turns picking songs in the car. Benny picks Battle Belongs very often. I love this song for Benny- it empowers him to know that the battle, whatever it may be, is not ours to fight. The battle belongs to God, we just need to give it to Him and trust Him.

My favorite lyric: “When all I see is the battle, You see my victory.”

3. Good God Almighty- crowder

Good God Almighty" by Crowder | Air1 Worship Music

Good God Almighty is a banger! We turn this one way up.

My favorite lyric: “Like sun in the morning, I know You’re gonna be there every day.”

4. Famous For- Tauren Wells (feat. Jenn Johnson)

Famous For (I Believe)" by Tauren Wells featuring Jenn Johnson | Air1 Worship Music

Famous For is humbling and empowering. Every time I listen to it, it reminds me that the same God that did all the amazing things in the Old Testament and the same Jesus that died on the cross after living a perfect life is the same God that works in my life today. The Holy Spirit that is with me and all the people I love is with you, too. MINDBLOWING! Hearing my kids sing the lyrics below brings me to tears every time, even on a Tuesday morning on the way to school…

My favorite lyric: ” God of exceedingly, God of abundantly more than we ask or think. Lord, You will never fail. Your name is powerful, Your word’s unstoppable. All things are possible in You.”

5. Canyons- cory asbury

Canyons | Bethel Music

Canyons is a song that just gets to me. I love being in the mountains or watching waves roll in on a beach. I love standing among towering trees or looking at the sky during a sunset or sunrise. God’s creations are overwhelming to me at times. This song reminds me that God’s love for me is so vast and that is so comforting to me.

My favorite lyric: “Where could I run that You wouldn’t run after me? How could I fall when You already took the fall for me? Beyond the stars to the very breath I breathe. There’s no end to Your love for me.”

6. Reckless Love- Cory Asbury

Reckless Love (Cory Asbury album) - Wikipedia

Reckless Love is another powerful song by Cory Asbury about God’s love for us. If you ever feel like you are unlovable, unworthy, or a failure. YOU ARE NOT- your story isn’t over and God is not done with you. Please listen to this song and truly understand what the lyrics say. You can’t earn God’s love and none of us deserve it- it is by His mercy and grace that we have it.

My favorite lyric: “Oh, the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God. Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the 99. And I couldn’t earn it. I don’t deserve it, still You give yourself away.”

7. You say- lauren daigle

Lauren Daigle: You Say (2018) - Filmaffinity

You Say is a song about me. I am a hot mess, but I am giving my life to God. Choosing to believe in Him and what He says about me. It isn’t easy to do, I will fail many times, but I am giving Him all my failures. He can turn all those failures into victories!

My favorite lyric: “The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me. In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity.”

8. Goodness of God- Bethel Music (feat. Jenn Johnson)

Goodness Of God (LIVE) - Jenn Johnson | VICTORY - YouTube

The anthem song of my life is Goodness of God. Do you ever think about your life? Your husband, your kids, your parents? Do you get overwhelmed with the blessings in your life. What did I do to deserve the immense blessings? Well- it is all because of the Goodness of God! This song is all about giving credit to where credit is due.

My favorite lyric: “Your goodness is running after me.”

9. House of the lord- phil wickham

House of the Lord" by Phil Wickham | Air1 Worship Music

House of the Lord is probably the #1 requested worship song in the car. It is a banger and just HAPPINESS!  Jesus says in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with you.” So when I am in the car with my three kids and we are all singing this song as loud as we can- Jesus is with us!

My favorite lyric: ” We sing to the God who always makes a way. ‘Cause He hung up on that cross and then He rose up from that grave. My God’s still rolling stones away.”

10. Known- tauren wells

Known (song) - Wikipedia

Known is always Martin’s pick in the car. It is a good one, y’all. This song is about being fully known by God. That is pretty scary because I am not all that great most of the time. But this song explains the comfort of being fully known.

My favorite lyric: “You see right through the mess inside me. And You call me out to pull me in. You tell me I can start again.”
