Happy Birthday, Zoey!

The newest, coolest 14 year old is my niece! Today is Zoey’s birthday and I knew I had to do a fun post for her birthday. She is so special to me and being her aunt is one of my favorite titles!

So here are FIVE FACTS about ZOEY!

Zoey is just like me but with volleyball. Like me, Zoey is extremely focused, dedicated, and enamored with her sport. My sport was basketball, her sport is volleyball. I am guessing my parents can see this similarity even more than I can. This girl is always carrying a ball around, doing drills, asking to go practice. She loves the game. No one is forcing her, no one pushes her to play, she is self-motivated and obsessed with improving. I love it so much.

Zoey possesses saint-like patience. Teenagers aren’t always known for their patience. Zoey is a rare breed. She is so patient and kind with Madley, even when Madley doesn’t deserve it. It’s incredible and something I am so thankful for. 

Speaking of Madley, Zoey is Madley’s best friend. There is a seven year age gap, but the bond these two have is so special. I can’t begin to tell you how blessed Madley is to have Zoey as her role model, best friend, confidant, cheerleader, and cousin. It’s something that will forever bless Madley, be a source of joy and confidence that she can always lean on.

Zoey is a nationally ranked volleyball player, specifically in sand volleyball. I know I mentioned volleyball earlier, but she’s legit, y’all! I can say this because I am an annoyingly proud aunt! This girl can flat out ball with the best in the country in her age division (and older too). 

If you want to see a visual definition of joy, just watch Zoey on a volleyball court. It is one of the purest forms of joy. Zoey is the ultimate hype girl for her teammates, she will sacrifice her body diving for balls, she is quick to build up others, and she is usually smiling from ear to ear. I want to be more like Zoey- joyful!
