My Summer Goals as a Christian Mom: Simple Intentions for a Joyful Season

It’s the last day of school for my kids (and me) today! So, officially, at 1:00pm today- IT’S SUMMER!

In honor of summer, I sat down and jotted down some goals or points of emphasis that I have for Summer 2025. And today seemed like the best day to share!

Last year I shared my summer goals for 2024 and even my report card about those goals. Sharing my goals really does help keep me accountable. So thank you everyone.

Let’s get to it, what do ya say?!

Kari’s Summer Goals & Points of Emphasis

1. Be Present with My Kids

  • Unplug more often: set phone boundaries for myself and tablet boundaries for my kids.

  • Create simple, screen-free memories: porch picnics, park trips, pool time

  • One-on-one time with each child each week, find hobbies they enjoy and then join them!

2. Prioritize My Quiet Time

  • Start each morning with my bible reading, add more to my current quiet time routine.

  • Listen to worship music during chores or errands or car rides.

  • Read more books, less scrolling

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

3. Simplify Our Home & Schedule

  • Declutter one room or space each week

  • Build slow days into the calendar—don’t overbook! Say no to things more.

  • Have the kids help in cleaning out their closets, and donate toys.

4. Take Care of My Body

  • Move daily: walk, stretch, lift, or swim with the kids

  • Stay hydrated

  • Choose nourishing meals loaded with fresh produce, but allow for s’mores and snow cones, too

  • Prioritize the grocery store- go with intention and a plan!

5. Make Fun a Priority

  • Keep my kids young- zoo trips, park playdates, bubbles.

  • Play games together on HOT days.

  • Be spontaneous—say yes to ice cream trips after dinner!

6. Grow My Blog with Purpose

  • Stick to a steady writing rhythm (like M–F)

  • Focus on helping other moms feel seen, loved, and encouraged

  • Lean into topics that matter most this season

  • Share more on social media, scroll less.

  • Grow my audience by submitting to God’s will and guidance for my blog.

Doesn’t that all that add up to one meaningful, awesome summer?! I can’t wait. What is one thing you would put on your list of summer goals or points of emphasis? I’d love to hear it!

I’m going to head out and soak up this last day of school. Hope y’all have a wonderful day!
