Motivational Monday #24: Moody Monday

Have you ever felt like you were unable to control your mood? Sometimes it is really easy to be in a good mood, and other days your loved ones have to walk on thin ice because you are erratic in your mood swings. I’m right there with you.

I know hormones are powerful and a real thing, but I wanted to do everything in my power to have self-control with my moods. And when I say “my power” I am not really talking about my power, I wanted to know what the bible says about these moods.

So that is what I did, I looked up bible verses that can help us, give us perspective, guide us when we feel our moods are controlling us. I encourage you to bookmark these verses in your bible for future reference.

The ten most common moods people experience are:

Happy – Feeling joyful, content, or satisfied.

Sad – Experiencing sorrow, grief, or disappointment.

Angry – Feeling frustrated, irritated, or enraged.

Anxious – A state of nervousness, worry, or fear about the future.

Excited – Feeling enthusiastic, eager, or thrilled.

Calm – A sense of peace, relaxation, or tranquility.

Bored – Lacking interest, stimulation, or engagement.

Lonely – Feeling isolated, disconnected, or longing for companionship.

Confident – A state of self-assurance and certainty.

Hopeful – Feeling optimistic and positive about the future.

HAPPY

I often forget to think about God when I am happy. So next time you feel the joy of the Lord in your life, take time to remember that the joy of the Lord is your strength.

SAD

Did you read that? If you feel sad or brokenhearted- THE LORD IS CLOSE and HE SAVES YOU! Trust that.

ANGRY

ONLY leads to harm. Only is a very clear word, it leaves no other option. Anger and rage leads to harm and ONLY harm. So many times, we get angry with someone or something and feel the need to act on the anger with rage. IT NEVER MAKES IT BETTER.

ANXIOUS

Anxiety is so tough. I am so thankful for this verse and how it tells us to combat anxious thoughts. 

1. Pray to God– be in a constant conversation with God.

2. Petition- Ask God for specific things. It’s not only okay to ask for things, but He wants you to ask him for what you need and want.

3. Thanksgiving– When in prayer and petition, keep your heart thankful for what God has blessed you with and for the line of open communication available to us with God.

EXCITED

I love being excited, it is maybe my favorite mood to be in! This Romans verse reminds us to stay in this excitement zone and serve the Lord. I think our light is so attractive when we are excited and “on fire” for the Lord, it is a great time to share your excitement.

CALM

So much of the bible is metaphoric. But I love to visualize this verse literally. Laying down in a beautiful green pasture next to still waters. Incredible.

BORED

It is okay to be still and content. However, when we are “bored” we are probably not content. What do you do when you are bored? Check yourself with this verse as a filter. Are you glorifying God?

LONELY

Is God your God? If so, He promises to strengthen you, to help you, and to uphold you. God’s promises are guaranteed. 

CONFIDENT

Let’s go! This verse could be for every single mood, but I chose confidence. When I am feeling confident, this verse is so loud in my head. I want to remind myself that this verse is true when I am confident and when I am insecure.

HOPEFUL

If hope seems hard to hold on to, that is okay. Solomon wrote in Proverbs that there is a future hope for you and it won’t be cut off. That is so comforting.

Whatever mood you feel today, God loves you and is with you.
