Motivational Monday #23: Perfect Peace

Just imagine… perfect peace.

Now that is something money can’t buy. Health wouldn’t give you perfect peace. Relationships, even amazing ones, don’t give you perfect peace.

The prophet Isaiah tells us that perfect peace is possible and how. It is very simple and clear on how to do it. Isaiah never said it was easy, tho. Darn. Why does my flesh want everything to be easy?

So how do we work towards perfect peace in our hearts, souls, and minds?

STEADFAST MINDS.

What does that mean? You fix your thoughts on God. ALL the time. You study his word, you talk to him, you praise him, you thank him, you rely on him, and the biggy… YOU TRUST HIM.

Isaiah goes on to talk about how God humbles those who dwell on high. Basically, if you think your stuff doesn’t stink, God will expose your stink. Isaiah says the ones that you think you are better than will be the ones to trample you.

Isaiah also tells us that a steadfast mind aligns with our desires. If our desires are what God desires, our minds are steadfast.

If you are like me, you might be saying to yourself, I would really like to have perfect peace in my life. I would like to stop acting on my own desires and then always dealing with the mess that I created. I have found three things we can do to work towards perfect peace.

1. Read the Bible Every Day, Over and Over (Psalm 119)

The more we read the bible, the better we understand God’s character. We see that God’s will for our life is for good. The more you read, your desires will start to align with God. You read story after story of God’s love, mercy, and grace. We start to understand the power we have in the Holy Spirit. It changes you, molds you to be more and more like Jesus.

2. Think About God (Colossians 3:1-2)

How many of your thoughts are spent on things relating to God? I challenge you to center your thinking around God. When you are parenting, center yourself with God before speaking or acting. Before a meeting, center yourself with God to have a clear and open mind when communicating with others. When you are fueling your body, center yourself with God. Are you thanking him for a healthy body or honoring that body with what you are consuming?

3. Trust During Trials

This is hard. When you read the bible, you read about trial after trial that God’s people go through. However, there is not one trial that God doesn’t walk through with his children. God tells us to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:9). He tells us to trust him even when you don’t see any way out of your circumstances (Isaiah 43:19), and he promises us that trials lead to perseverance and a crown (James 1:12).

 Dear God,

Ignite my heart to seek you more. Fill my thoughts with you. Continue to teach me and mold me through your word. Lord, I want your perfect peace in my life. I want to see my world around me through your filter. You are the creator and the rescuer. I trust you with my life, good days and bad.

Amen

Have a great day. Love y’all!
