Today I want to talk about how three steps can guarantee you will be living in God’s will for your life. Before I get to the three simple steps, let’s make sure we know why we want to be in God’s will.
God’s will for humankind was to live in abundance, harmony, blessings, health, and perfection. The first sin by Adam and Eve brought imperfection. We now struggle the never ending battle of God’s perfect purpose for our lives vs. our own selfish desires and fears.
The bible gives us three simple steps to win the battle and live in God’s will.
Step One
REJOICE ALWAYS
Be a joyful person most of the time all the time. REjoice, so over and over again. Be the person with perspective, focusing on the good. Use faith over fear. Love over jealousy. Kindness over defensiveness.
Step Two
PRAY CONTINUALLY
Push the idea of not knowing how to pray correctly out of your mind. Just start by saying, “Hi God, I am going to talk to you about xyz. Here is what I know… Here is where I am stuck and need your help… Here is what I want, but I want your will over mine… Thank you for helping me.” Just talk to Him. It can be a 15 second prayer/convo that you do 100 times a day.
Step Three
GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
All? Yes, you read it right. ALL! This one is easy to do when life is peachy. Giving thanks in hard times, traffic jams, kid fits, or botched plans is much harder. Keep perspective- have faith that God’s will is far greater than ours. In the darkest times, we need God closer than ever. Keep giving thanks.
Three simple steps to live in God’s perfect will.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
My Prayer
Dear Lord, I am rejoicing today. Thank you for your son, Jesus. Thank you for your Holy Spirit. Please help me remember that I can talk to you whenever I need/want to. Thank you for being a God that listens and wants what is best for me and my loved ones. Keep me firmly in Your will. Amen.
