Miller Family Snapshot: Madley’s Hair

My favorite girl is the subject today, specifically her hair!

Madley loves getting her hair done (most of the time). She comes up with some wacky and fun ideas, and I try my best to make it happen!

Over the past month, I have snapped some pictures of the finished hair styles, at least on the days I remembered to take a photo.

A few things about her hair…

  1. She has never had it cut. I trimmed it a half inch in August. She has never asked, so I have never taken her.

  2. Her hair is so dark. She has brown hair, she can get some golden color in the summer but not much. I love her color, but it is hard to get good pictures because of it.

  3. We don’t do hot tools on it. We have curled her hair with a curling iron I think 2 times ever.

  4. We don’t use shampoo. This one is crazy to me. I only shampoo her hair if she actually got something in it. She gets it wet in the shower or bubble bath, but I don’t use shampoo. Her hair is NEVER greasy. Now I limit my shampoo use to 1-2x per week and I have noticed a HUGE difference in my grease levels. I am not a doctor, but it is something to think about.

  5. Conditioner- I do use conditioner on the bottom half of her hair, but I don’t rinse it out. This makes her hair so easy to brush and so silky.

  6. Madley’s hair is like mine (and her dad’s), it is completely straight. Dries board straight.

  7. Madley has a lot of hair, but her hair isn’t thick.

  8. We always have her hair completely down for anything water related. If she is in the shower/bath, her hair has to be down. If she goes swimming, we wear it down. This is essential for knots! It keeps her hair knot free.

  9. Madley has her mom’s baby hairs. Sorry chick. Baby hairs can lead to some HOT MESS looks. But who has time for perfection anyway.

With all that being said, here are the pictures of Madley’s hair styles for school! Also- high ponies are a go-to when we are in a time crunch. Also, this girl can pull off anything. I pray that she never loses her self-confidence. She is always ROCKING it.

Madley is starting to want to wear her hair down… growing up. I let her every once in a while, but it has to be out of her face. That is my one rule.

*Also- you’ll notice her wearing this shirt A LOT. It is her favorite. She tries to wear it multiple times a week, but we compromised and said only ONCE per week.*

She loves this outfit- and I think this twist into a bun is so sweet!

I about cried when she asked for pigtails- I thought for sure we outgrew them. She hasn’t asked for them in FOREVER!

One of my favorite requests- “space buns.” After many explanations from Madley, this is what we got. So cute!

This was one of her more unique requests- half bubble braid, half mermaid braid. I think I nailed it!

Outside of a high pony, Madley loves some double french braids. Classic.

In My 1st Grade Era! Yes you are, sweet girl. It’s a great era!

She let me decide on this day. I always go for a bun, because she rarely picks a bun.

High Ballerina Bun- another staple!

My sweet angel.

In Florida- she wanted braids like her bestie who is Ethiopian. We tried!

Hot Mess Madley and her pony- this is truly how we look all the time. She may not look like me, but she got her “hot mess” look from her mommy- 100%.

That is it for today’s blog. Thanks for stopping by and getting a look at Madley’s hair. Random, but I hope you found it fun.

Thanks to my mom for this blog post idea!

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday.
