GMWK- Get Merry with Kari!
These blog posts are when I share an area of my life that I feel passionately about, something that brings me joy. My hope is to spread joy, so you can be merry with me! Today’s GMWK is all about being bold and brave on social media!
You’ll be seeing more of me…
This feels a little vulnerable to share, but also really exciting.
I’ve felt God nudging me for a while now to show up more boldly—to share my heart, my story, and my everyday moments as a wife/mom who loves Jesus, family, and being active.
I don’t have it all figured out. Some days are beautifully full, and others feel like barely hanging on. But in the chaos, I know this: God is faithful, and His grace is enough.
If you’re a fellow mama in your 20s, 30s, or 40s who’s trying to love well, live well, and grow deeper in faith—you are SO welcome here. You are the reason I am here. I shared my blog almost a year ago after being a closeted blogger for an entire year. Yep- I blogged without telling anyone, basically, for a year. I was terrified to share it, it was my heart. With God’s patience and constant push to keep blogging, I feel him tugging on me to continue to put myself out there by spreading my light brighter and wider.
Here’s to real connection, honest encouragement, and little moments of joy in the middle of our everyday life. Please feel free to join in on the fun! Like my pictures, leave fun comments, start posting more yourself. I also give you permission to unfollow me if you ever think I am being fake, annoying, or self-centered. I pray everyday that God keeps me humble and honest and that I come across as that through my social media and blogs.
Would you like to share more? Consider these 5 things…
*I actively consider these things DAILY!*
1. Start With What Feels Natural
If videos make you nervous, start with photos and captions. If you love writing, use your captions like mini blog posts. Lean into your strengths—your confidence will grow from there.
2. Remember Who You’re Talking To
Instead of thinking about “everyone,” picture one mom friend you’d love to encourage. Write or talk like you’re speaking directly to her. It makes your tone warmer, more authentic, and less intimidating.
3. Post From a Place of Purpose, Not Performance
When your heart is to serve, encourage, or glorify God—it’s easier to let go of the pressure to be perfect.
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31
Focus on impact over impressions.
4. Practice Showing Up Imperfectly
You don’t need perfect lighting, makeup, or words to be effective. Sometimes the messy, honest moments are what connect most.
Try posting something small, like a story with your morning coffee or a verse that encouraged you today. The more you do it, the easier it gets.
5. Engage More with Others
Before posting, spend a few minutes liking, commenting, or encouraging others you admire. It shifts your mindset from “What will they think of me?” to “How can I show up and love others well?”
Here’s to being bold, leaning on faith, living in God’s will, and supporting each other.
Cheers!
