I recently listened to a podcast about the ten healthy habits that fit people every single day. It was fascinating. You can listen to it here!
But if you don’t want to spend an hour listening to it, I will give you the rundown!
Here are ten healthy habits that healthy people do every single day!
They drink water, a lot of it!
They don’t confuse thirst for hunger.
They drink ½ to 1 gallon of water a day.
They don’t smoke or drink alcohol (hardly).
If they do drink, it is likely one drink, and on the occasion.
They don’t rely on alcohol to loosen up or to fall asleep.
They are mindful eaters.
They are aware of how they feel when eating.
They are aware of feeling full and stop eating.
They are aware of emotional or bored eating.
They ask why before eating.
They take stress seriously!
They have strategies to manage stress (keep it at bay).
They have daily activities that keep stress more manageable; walks, meditation, bible reading, hobbies, scrolling limits, etc.
They do these daily activities EVERY day, not just when they feel stressed.
Movement throughout the day.
Fit people incorporate movement throughout their days, outside of their workouts.
Movement could be standing at your desk, parking farther away, taking the stairs at work, walking to talk to someone instead of calling, every little bit of movement adds up.
They eat a whole food diet.
They focus on whole foods first.
They try to avoid overly processed foods.
They make sure to eat the rainbow.
They value sleep.
They plan their activities to ensure sleep happens.
They invest and stick to routines that help their sleep.
They prioritize sleep over scrolling.
They understand the crazy benefits of sleep.
They lift weights.
They believe the benefits (long term) of weight lifting.
They commit 3-4 days a week to strength training.
They set specific goals.
The goal “Lose Body Fat” doesn’t work for fit people. They create specific, detailed goals with time tables. They set a goal with a plan in place to reach that goal.
Meal Planning is a must!
They plan out meals based on their schedule.
They have backup meals/plans if plan A fails.
They are rarely scrambling for food.
And those are TEN healthy habits healthy people have! Reflecting on my own health journey, I would score pretty high in some of these categories. However, I have some weak spots that I want/need to improve on.
I hope you enjoyed reading about these habits as much as I enjoyed listening to them. No one is perfect in their health journey. Be sure to always start with gratitude- if your heart’s still beating, God has a plan for you.
I think there is something in there for all of us. Thankyou. Enjoy your week. I am joining you at Talking About it Tuesdays.
