75 Hard challenge: week 1

Hello! I am one week into the 75 Hard Challenge. Here is a quick reminder of the 5 daily tasks that I must do every single day, for 75 days straight.


1. Drink a Gallon of water/day.

2. Read 10 pages of a self improvement book.

3. Follow a diet of your choosing.

4. Workout 2x/day. (one has to be outdoors)

5. Take a daily progress picture.


Here is a quick recap of how it is going…


Diet I Chose: I decided to record everything I ate into MyFitnessPal, and come in caloric deficit every day. I am also not really trying to lose weight, just get stronger.


Day 1: January 1


Weigh In: 142.6 lbs (22.4% body fat)

Workout #1: Sydney Cummings: Energize Day 2

Workout #2: Outdoor Walks (1.15 mi. & 1.3 mi.)

Book: Best Self- Be You, Only Better by: Mike Bayer (Introduction)

Diet: DONE!

Water: DONE! (Soooo many bathroom breaks)

Day 2: January 2


Weigh In: 142.2 lbs. (22.4% body fat)

Workout #2: Outdoor Walk ( 2.36 mi.)

Diet: DONE!

Water: DONE!

Day 3: January 3 *First day back to work*

Water: DONE! (This one is getting easier)

I am also cutting out social media (Instagram and Facebook). Many times I have found myself opening up the apps without even thinking. Luckily, I have caught myself before I start scrolling and can kill the app before seeing anything. So I have now deleted the apps from my phone to eliminate the extra temptation to fall into old habits.


Surprise Findings:

  1. Drinking a gallon of water has gotten surprisingly easier with each day. I have a good routine started and I am usually done with my gallon by 3:00pm. I save the last 10 oz for the evening to have for dinner.

  2. My Fitness Pal: It has been enlightening to keep tabs on all the food I eat. The app is also teaching me about my macros. I have been coming pretty close to hitting my correct macro ratios for the day.

  3. Weight: I have been in a calorie deficit every single day for the last 7 days, and my weight has still fluctuated. I like the idea of weighing myself every day for 75 days to see what patterns emerge. I am interested to see if I have any monthly patterns… the joys of womanhood…
