What is a resolution anyway?
I looked it up, and I really liked the definition google gave me.
A firm decision- that was the part I liked. Any resolution I *think* I may have needed to go through the firm filter. Am I firm on this resolution? That is what I asked myself when trying to narrow down all the goals and aspirations I have for 2025.
As you can guess, today I am sharing my New Year’s Resolution. My firm decisions to do something. My non-negotiables. My hows behind my whys.
Resolution #1: Read the entire bible again!
Last winter I finished the bible for the first time, reading the entire thing. Since then, I have almost read it all the way through again. I will wrap up in February. I am planning to start over and do it again. The more I read, the more I become obsessed with it. It is the craziest thing, I honestly learn more and more with each read. These ancient old testament stories are changing my life- for the better. If you are thinking about resolutions, I challenge you to try this one. I use the Bible Recap reading program. You can use this program through the Bible App, the podcast, youtube, or the hardback book. It is free, unless you buy the book. Also, you learn about Joseph in the book of Genesis- one of my favorites!
Resolution #2: Understand Nutrition Better
If you’ve been here long, you already know that I love working out and staying active. But I rarely share about nutrition. That is because I just don’t know very much. It is a topic that scares me. I feel like the more you know, it will force you to change. Once you know better, you are faced with the reality of it. I have started to dabble with it and it has been so eye-opening. I am FIRM in learning more and doing better. My body is a gift from God, it deserves better.
Resolution #3: Weight Training Progressive Overload
Since I moved into our new house (4 years ago), I have really loved weight training. I was the queen of youtube videos. I loved popping a video on and just doing whatever they told me. But this year, I am going to track my lifts, my reps, and my weights every week. Then I will progress the lift each week. I am excited and hopeful that I will get stronger. I even made a folder with my workouts that come with a recording sheet. (Thank you, Canva!)
Resolution #4: Date Night Every Other Week
I already have 4 scheduled for January and February. Our weeks are so busy, I want to make “connecting with Martin” a top priority. We often miss each other in our busy schedules, hauling kids to and fro.
Resolution #5: Meal Plan
I have been saying this for years- “I wish I was better at organizing our meals and groceries.” 2025 is the year that I take a stand. I know it will be some trial and error, but I am making a FIRM decision to find a meal plan system that works for us.
Those are my 5 New Year Resolutions. My firm decisions. Did you notice none of my resolutions had an end date? Or a goal weight? I did that intentionally. I wanted these resolutions to become habits, life-long habits. I will be sure to share and give updates on these throughout the year, you are going to keep me honest and accountable. It takes a village.
I pray that you all have a blessed 2025- I can’t wait to share life with you this year.
Sounds “Firm”! I believe in you!
