Before we get into my resolution updates, I’ll fill you in on why I have been a bit MIA lately.
Benny got the stomach bug, flu, and an ear infection at the same time. Poor thing has never been sicker. Rightfully so, my full attention and energy has been towards him. We are currently on day 5. This is the first day he hasn’t woken up with a fever. So we are hopeful that he is on his way to his normal self. No one else has gotten sick, so we are praying that continues. I know so many of you can relate to this, the flu is NO JOKE this year.
Okay, back to original programming…
About a month ago, I shared my 5 New Year Resolutions with y’all. Today , I thought I’d revisit them and see how I am doing…
Resolution #1: Read the entire bible again!
I am happy to say, this is going great! I am currently on pace to finish The Bible Recap (round 2) on March 23rd. Then on March 24th, I will start the bible back over again.
Resolution #2: Understand Nutrition Better
This resolution is an interesting one. The more I have learned about nutrition, the more I realize I need/have to learn. Honestly, I am having to retrain my brain from years and years of misinformation. Food companies have wired our brains to think certain things about foods, and the more I understand, the more I feel like I have been duped.
I am so thankful for this resolution, I am hopeful that I will continue learning and doing better.
Resolution #3: Weight Training Progressive Overload
I am currently in the middle of my 6th week of my 12 week strength training program. I have stuck to it and have progressively overloaded my lifts every single week. The reps/weights I am using today was not possible 5 weeks ago. That is pretty cool.
Resolution #4: Date Night Every Other Week
Well, we had ONE date night in January. So this one fell a little flat. Between bad winter weather and a sick kid, something had to give. We are hopeful to get back on track with this.
Resolution #5: Meal Plan
Our eating out has gone down drastically. We are being smarter about how we cook. We have started to make double the protein, and then use that protein for the next night’s meal. This has been so helpful in quick, healthier meals. Do I think we can still be better? Yes. But, hey, it’s a start.
And that is my resolution update! This was so helpful, assessing myself on my resolutions. I feel, both, proud and energized to keep going.
Praying you all stay healthy! C’mon Spring!!
